The research group for Applied Materials & Biological Mass Spectrometry in the Department of Applied Chemistry at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in Taiwan offers several positions for PhD candidates.
We currently focus on two main research topics:
(1) development and applications of new ambient ionization methods for mass spectrometry;
(2) synthesis and applications of smart nanomaterials for targeting bacteria, cancer cells, and toxins.
Our group provides all graduate students with state of the art research infrastructure and financial resources to support their projects. The instruments available in the laboratory exclusively used for research purposes are: four mass spectrometers (ion trap, Q-TOF, MALDI-TOF and MALDI TOF/TOF), fluorescence microscope, optical spectrophotometers, ultracentrifuge, dynamic light scattering system, etc. All the graduate students in the group are free to access these instruments.
We welcome all candidates who are interested to gain practical experience in mass spectrometry, nanotechnology, and biomedical research, to join our group.
Candidates should first send their CV, transcripts, and names of three references to Prof. Yu-Chie Chen (e-mail: ).
Following an initial acceptance by the group leader, the candidate will be requested to apply for the NCTU scholarship:
