Postdoctoral position in coordination chemistry and homogenous catalysis

Company/Institution: CEA
Location: Gif Sur Yvette, France
Date Posted: 20 July 2010
Closing Date: 1 October 2010

Our group is part of the Interdisciplinary Department on Molecular Systems and Materials of the IRAMIS Institute at the CEA in Saclay (France). Our activities focus on basic research for the nuclear fuel cycle and alternative energies. Our strategy relies on coordination chemistry and small molecules activation by transition metals and f-elements, spectroscopy (optical spectroscopy, NMR and electrochemistry), homogenous catalysis and computational chemistry. Research in the group is conducted in close collaboration with other staff members from the Laboratory of f-Element Chemistry in the Interdisciplinary Department on Molecular Systems and Materials.

The research project will lead to the development of new activation processes for CO and CO2 by transition metals and f-elements and will enable the discovery of new catalytic transformation for the chemical recycling of carbon oxides (CO2 and CO). The candidate will benefit from the interaction with other members in the group (associate researchers, other postdocs and grad students). Access to the lab equipment (including X-ray diffraction, NMR, autoclaves, GC/MS, gloveboxes...) will ensure a rapid completion of the objectives.

This position requires a PhD in homogenous catalysis and/or organometallic/coordination chemistry. Good expertise in handling air sensitive compounds would be appreciated. The candidate should be very enthusiastic, autonomous and should appreciate to work closely with a team.
