Date Posted: 25 March 2009

Applications are invited for a 4-year PhD position in the group of Supramolecular & Homogeneous Catalysis, led by Professor Dr. Joost Reek (for details on the group, see http://www.science.uva.nl/research/imc/HomKat/index.htm). Overarching goal of the project is to introduce new concepts for adaptive ligands in homogeneous catalysis, with specific attention on approaches for the hydroamination of alkenes. The project will initially focus on synthesis, coordination chemistry and spectroscopy. Gradually, homogeneous catalysis and reaction kinetics will become important aspects. The research group is young, ambitious and well-known for the development of new concepts in homogeneous and supramolecular catalysis. Laboratory facilities are of excellent modern standards and are situated near the downtown of Amsterdam. The successful applicant should have excellent a qualifying degree in Chemistry with significant experience in synthetic (in)organic chemistry.
