The PhD will be based on the development of transition metal catalysts with
applications in pharmaceutical chemistry and green chemistry. Asymmetric
variations are envisaged in order to develop enantioselective processes.
The project will consist of the design of ligands and complexes, and their
catalytic testing in targeted reactions.
The School of Chemistry of St Andrews is one of the top four of the UK. It
provides an outstanding environment for research and study. Furthermore,
chemistry research at St Andrews and Edinburgh has combined to form EaStCHEM,
which is a world-class research grouping based at both St Andrews and Edinburgh,
leading to excellence in research.
