Full time 12 month. College of Agriculture & Home Economics, Center for Animal Health, Food Safety and Bio-Security, New Mexico State University. Ph.D (in hand by hire date) in chemistry and three years related experience. Will serve as Director of the Chemistry Laboratory and the laboratorys Senior Research Chemist. Will lead a small staff in area of mass spectrometry/analytical chemistry conducting analysis for: poisons in complex matrices such as food; the stability and the bio availability of poisons in these matrices; establish chemical profiles of poisons and other deleterious substances placed in foods. Will have strong GC- and/or LC-mass spectrometry experience and knowledge of analytical chemical principles, theories, practice and established methodology for analyzing complex and unprecedented samples; develop and modify analytical methods. Ability to teach and train junior chemists and technicians in methods of mass spectrometry. Capable and willing to work with a variety of irritant chemicals and biological samples including poisons and other deleterious agents. Position is contingent upon funding Salary commensurate with experience and education. May be subject to drug and alcohol testing depending on contract requirements.
