Postdoctoral Position: Organic synthesis

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the University of Houston. The successful candidate should have a strong background in multi-step synthesis and organometallic chemistry, and should have at least three first-authored publications in top journals.

The work will involve 1) synthesis or modification of dendrimers and biologically active compounds, such as carbohydrates and peptides, and other compounds needed for the projects; 2) and development of catalysts with low toxicity for click reactions in biologically relevant conditions. The projects are in collaboration with researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine, College of Optometry, and the Methodist Hospital Research Institute. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated and to appreciate to work as a team.

The position is extendable to two years pending on performance and mutual interest. Salary will be competitive (>$33,000/year depending on qualification). Houston is the fourth largest city in the US, where the living expense is relatively low.
