The project envisioned will involve the development of
photosensitive (or caged) neurotransmitters for the stimulation of nerve cells.
Specifically, the focus will be on the construction and application of novel
chromophores that will undergo two-photon photolysis using synthetic organic
chemistry. We have many active collaborations with neuroscientists, so the
successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with biologists, and
learn about pharmacology and neuroscience. Our papers appear in high profile
journals (eg. Nature, Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Methods, ChemBioChem,
ChemComm, Biochemistry, etc.). Candidates MUST HAVE a Ph.D. in synthetic
organic chemistry for consideration.
Please read the following carefully: send
just these details:
1. education history; 2. names, telephone numbers, and emails (& webpages) of three references; and 3. list of publications by email
to Dr Graham CR Ellis-Davies, Dept of Pharmacology & Physiology, 245 N. 15th
St., Philadelphia, PA 19102. Ideally you live in the USA or Europe, as you will
have to come to Philadelphia for an interview.
